Sterilization
Sterlization is one of
the most important priorities in our office so that your orthodontic
experience can be both fulfilling and completely safe. While
we may have fun in the office, we take sterilization very seriously.
Dr. Kahn exceeds the
sterilization standards set by the California health commission.
We have acquired the most modern and state-of-the-art sterilization
equipment. We also implement the newest methods proven most
effective in guaranteeing the highest level of sterilization.
Brackets, bands and
wires are NEVER recycled. That means that any material used
in your mouth is new. Ask around, because some offices recycle
these types of materials.
|
We designed the entire office around an
open bay to have access to our Sterilization Island. It
is centrally located so that is accessible to all our staff at all
times to ensure maximum safety for your health and well being. |
All of our instruments are scrubbed thoroughly
and placed in our Ultrasonic cleaner. |
 After
ultrasonic sterilization, Instruments are then dried and placed on
a heat sterilizer. This system heats instruments to 410
°F (well over boiling temperature) to eliminate any possible bacteria.
|
Instruments are removed from heat sterilization
and are then bagged and sealed. Staff wear sterile plastic gloves
during this entire process. |
 Any
instruments or materials such as plastics, that can not withstand
such temperatures, are placed in cold sterilization. These chemicals
are not harmful to either you or our staff. |
 All
of the clinic surfaces, including the chairs, tray, and other areas
touched by patients and staff that may become subject to bacteria
are sprayed with a special surface disinfectant and chairs are prepared
before and after every patient. Each chair is prepared with
a new headrest cover, tray cover, new disposable suction tips and
bagged and sterilized instruments. |
