The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) is the not-for-profit organization of endodontists and other professionals worldwide with an interest in endodontics.

The word "endodontic" comes from two Greek words meaning "inside" and "tooth." Endodontics is the science of treating problems that involve the tissue inside the tooth. This internal tissue blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue is called the "pulp." Endodontic treatment saves teeth with pulpal problems or related problems in the tissues surrounding the tooth root.
